Pastor Jeremy D. Battle, D.Min. hails from Brighton (Birmingham), Alabama. He comes from two generations of pastors and preachers and has served in the church his entire life. He has served at Western Avenue since August 2011. He is a southern preacher and student of scripture who loves people and God’s church. Pastor Jeremy’s preaching is characterized by his captivating common-sense approach to God’s word and his gift of story-telling. He is a prophetic pastor who sees and cares for people at their specific point of need. Pastor Jeremy is a multi-gifted instrumentalist and vocalist who loves to worship at the heart of God. He lives by the personal mantra, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding—(but) in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6. His proudest accomplishments are being married to Jessica and being a father to their two children Jordan and Jeremy Jr.
Pastor Jeremy completed his freshman and sophomore years as a student at Stanford University where he received a Chappell Lougee Scholarship. There he proudly became a charter member of Stanford's chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He completed his final years of undergraduate study at the Historic Morehouse College as a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, honors graduate in Political Science. He completed his Master of Divinity degree at Harvard Divinity School, where he serves as an instructor, field educator, and denominational counselor to Baptist students. He also received a Doctor of Ministry from Emory University's Candler School of Theology. Pastor Battle maintains a commitment to inter-denominational church leadership from his diverse denomination background and upbringing in Birmingham, Alabama. He is ordained in the Church of God In Christ, The National Baptist Convention USA, and The American Baptist Church.
