On Sunday, December 15th, Pastor Battle continued preaching from Luke 2:8-18 using the sermon title "Christmas Without Presents." Pastor Battle emphasized that so often we get caught up in the idea of gifts and presents during the Christmas season that we do not realize the true "reason" for the season. Instead, we've treated God like we do others in our lives - we come to God and God's church to get things (transaction) rather than be in authentic fellowship with God (relationship). When we desire gifts (presents) rather than Jesus Himself (presence), it robs us of the joy and peace that comes with being in deep communion with the Savior.
